Description

The credit for the discovery of this archaeological mound goes to Shri C.B. Trivedi. During the archaeological explorations remains of Black and Red pottery, Northern Black Polished Ware, some ornate pottery and ring well were found. Later Rani Durgawati University Archaeology department conducted excavation at Kakrehta under the direction of Dr. R.K. sharma in 1983-84, 1985-85 and 1985-86. A few years after the first exploration, another exploration was done under the direction of Shri K.M. Srivastava, in which Northern Black Polished Ware and other remains were found. On the basis of the evidence obtained, it is believed that this site is of Chalcolithic period.
